2016 Awards: nominations closed – deliberations commence

The NZOSA nominations have now closed and we are pleased to announce that we have received 70 nominations across seven categories. The biennial NZOSA is an event that is looked forward to by the open source community; where we come together to recognise those Kiwis working with open source.

The nominations are now with a panel of judges who come from a variety of backgrounds and sectors, with differing fields of knowledge. They are all, however, passionate about open source and members of the open source community in New Zealand. The judges will deliberate and collaboratively assess the merits of each nomination before making the difficult decisions about the finalists.

Finalists will be announced by 15 August and then the chance to nominate your preferred finalist for the Peoples Choice Award will become available.

The community comes together for the awards presentation on Tuesday 25 October 2016 at the Te Marae, Te Papa, Wellington for an exquisite Gala Dinner.  Tickets to this event are $45. To secure a ticket contact awards@nzosa.org.nz.

Free and open source software in New Zealand delivers real advantages to business, government, community, arts and sciences. The awards showcase some of the most outstanding contributors and those involved with open source technology, and the Gala Dinner is an opportunity to celebrate those people and projects.
